Update 1: Post-Jam Bug Fixes & QoL Improvements!
WOW! We are so thrilled to be rated so highly during the GMTK Jam 2021. We have participated every year since the inception of this jam, and this has been one of the best games we have made thus far. We have come a long way and are excited to continue our game development journey.
This game was an ambitious project and unfortunately left us VERY little time to check our work at the end, let alone build quality of life features. Watching people play and stream the game was a bit painful, knowing exactly which pain points were going to be brought up over and over again. That being said we hope this first update will make the game more enjoyable. We aimed to just make some bug fixes and minor improvements without overhauling the design or adding new content... yet.
Patch Notes:
- Movement vector is now normalized (you no longer move faster on diagonals)
- Enemies properly spawn "endlessly"
- Turret range mechanic working properly
- Increased difficulty: improved enemy's aim and increased hostility
- Visually indicating the mass/engine system that affects movement speed
- Added hotkeys to quickly target all and clear all targets

at the late game engines actually make it worse
Yeah we may revisit this game, and can take a look at improving how engines & weight system work together. The idea was that the mass of the engines outweighs the benefit they provide over time, but we know that it was not communicated as well as it could be (nor does it feel very fair, right?)
